Paris is a city of love, but Air France’s annual meeting was full of anything but everything. PETA owns shares in Air France, so our trustee showed up during the annual meeting to inform other shareholders that the company is the only major airline in the world that is still willing to accept blood money for the delivery of primates that will be tortured and killed. experiment and ask when the practice is over – a question that was met with applause from the audience. It won’t look good on the minutes of the meeting. And what happened outside of the meeting also didn’t look good for the company, as PETA France supporters sat in cages to show Parisians that the primates tolerate after Air France threw them into laboratory hellish holes.
And this month PETA used shareholder activism tactics to work on change at three other companies:
Attending annual meetings not only shows how companies are using animals in testing, but also educates other shareholders about the cruelty that could hurt a company’s bottom line. PETA continues to work on changing company policies from within, including through additional shareholder action later this month.
