The Vegan Pass, which used to be the home of Del Taco, made a splash in the seaside town of Costa Mesa, California. VEG’D, which opened in May 2021, is the result of a collaboration between vegan chef Matthew Kenny and entrepreneur Christine Mulholland. Their vision is to offer healthy food without ingredients that are harmful to animals.
Like Matthew Kenney Cuisine, VEG’D does everything from scratch every day. In an industry that often profits from the suffering of others, VEG’D puts the welfare of people, other animals, and the environment is paramount. “We’re so excited to bring this fresh, thoughtful new concept to the fast food market, an industry saturated with long-standing giants who don’t care about the health of their consumers and our planet,” says Mulholland.
VEG’D’s organic vegan menu has options for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for a raw food diet or your favorite food. Here are a few of our favorites:
Rescuing cows has never tasted better. This homemade burger patty is garnished with vegan cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickles and VEG’D sauce.
Protein for Pro Smoothies
Cow’s milk is for cows, not for humans! That’s why this creamy smoothie is made with almond milk, almond butter, dates, banana, hemp protein, and cocoa nibs.
Fish inflicts far more damage on our ocean than a plastic straw. Choose this tuna bowl that’s full of good foods – beets, seaweed salad, edamame, tofu, spinach, avocado, ginger, sesame vinaigrette, and spicy vegan mayonnaise.
Hot Chicken Sandwich
Chickens are intelligent, curious animals with complex social skills – they don’t belong on your plate. This crispy chicken-free sandwich is smothered with buffalo sauce and garnished with pickles and kale salad.
Chalice of the Goddess
Take your vegetables on the road with this herbal Goddess Bowl, which is filled with broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, avocado and goddess dressing and served with your choice of herbs or grains.
Keep an eye on the local area in the city near you – VEG’D plans to distribute organic food throughout the country.
