Earth Day, Animals and the Planet We All Call Home
Life on Mother Earth is one of the things that humans and all other animals have (along with the will and the right to life), and – through them great characteristics and talents – other animals do their part to keep her healthy: Bees and other insects pollinate plants, including one third of the food that humans eat; beavers create dams to prevent flooding and erosion; proteins give up seeds and nuts that have taken root and plant trees and other plants in new places; and birds pollinate plants (such as bees), distribute seeds (such as proteins) and maintain a steady population level naturally (unlike some people like hunters).
