To celebrate reality TV star and tycoon Kim Kardashian on this Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 9), PETA India named a rescued mother cow after her. PETA thanks mother of four for showing compassion for mothers everything species, encouraging their family and fans to go vegan.
Fans talk about over 215 million of them – and this is only on Instagram. As one of the most popular people on the platform, Kim can help save animal lives by inspiring her legion of dedicated fans to follow her lead and keep animal foods off their plates.

A PETA-backed sanctuary in India won custody of a cow named Kim, which was likely used for milk production, after her former owner was caught abusing her in the street. She now enjoys eating green grass and lounging in the shade, and has befriended a bull named Sonya as well as another cow named Mina since arriving at the reserve.

Cows produce milk for the same reason that humans do: to feed their babies. But on-farm calves are often taken from their mothers when they are only one day old. Mother cows, separated from the calves, have heard their names for several days. By letting fans follow her vegan journey by posting everything from Beyond Burgers to vegan pizza and non-dairy ice cream, Kim is showing people how they can stop contributing to this cruelty without giving up their favorite foods.
