New York – Below you can find a statement from PETA President Ingrid Newkirk in response to the announcement that fur will no longer be on Saks Fifth Avenue:
Following a strong campaign by PETA and the Coalition to end the fur trade and messages from more than 100,000 people, Saks Fifth Avenue announced that it will close its fur stores this fiscal year and that no fur of any kind, be it wild animals or factory fur. farms will be sold by the end of fiscal 2022. Let his “fur salons” remain in PCbecause they won’t be missed by today’s shoppers who no longer find it acceptable to wrap themselves in the stolen skin of a raped animal.
PETA members Rob Banks and Rachel Levy Eismont led the charge against Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, and the Fur Trade Abolition Coalition organized additional protests outside retail stores in Beverly Hills, California; Miami; and San Francisco.
PETA – whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
