San Francisco – See PETA Senior Vice President Katy Guillermo’s statement in a video released by Elon Musk’s Neuralink of a monkey with a chip implanted in his brain manipulating a video screen in exchange for liquid:
The monkey was not fooled by the photo screen in the jungle, and no one else should. In neuroscience experiments, monkeys are constantly kept in a state of thirst or hunger to make them cooperate and stare at the screen for hours, and when the session ends, they return to the cage. Experiments like those of Neuralink have been done many times before, always at the expense of animals whose lives have been stolen, and nothing has come of it. Neuralink would break the real scientific base if there were no animals in its research, but in fact they would help people.
