What are your taxpayer dollars actually paying for?

[ad_1]

Do you know where your taxpayer money really is? goes? In the past year alone, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has spent $ 19.6 billion funding cruel and useless animal experiments. This staggering amount comes straight from your pocket. Regardless of how you fill out the tax form, your hard-earned money helps the experimenters torture and kill millions of mice, monkeys and other animals.

What are taxes paid for?

Your taxes support a broken system: 95% of all new drugs proven to be safe and effective in animals, ineffective or harmful in human clinical trials. Because different species respond differently to drugs and diseases, the results of experiments in mice, rats, and other animals cannot be applied to humans. AND 90% basic research, most of which are related to animals, never lead to treatment or treatment in humans.

Experiments on animals delays developing effective drugs and treatments – but you still pay for the waste.

Your taxpayer dollars at work

Below is a quick example of how the NIH is currently wasting tax money:

1. On Wisconsin National Primate Research Centermonkeys are kept in gloomy, windowless rooms, driven mad by constant confinement and attacked by inmates. During recent PETA investigation, workers called some of the monkeys “sperm donors.” They are usually pulled out of their cages using poles attached to metal collars that monkeys are forced to wear around their necks. The animals are then tied to a restraint chair and the experimenters shocked their penises until they ejaculate.

This hellhole receives tens of millions of dollars from the NIH every year. PETA is urging the agency to fund this horror show.

2. On National Institute of Mental Health (also known as the National Monkey Hell Institute) Elizabeth Murray opens the skulls of live monkeys and then injects toxins to burn their brain cells. PETA received a previously unknown video in which these victims were deliberately frightened with fake snakes and spiders.

No cure or medicine for humans is the result of this brutality – part of a multi-year project in which monkeys are abused and terrorized – but the government has spent $ 47 million on it since 1998.

3. Internal documents obtained by PETA and inside information show that Washington National Primate Research Center (WaNPRC) kills thousands of monkeys in meaningless experiments. WaNPRC, located on the University of Washington campus, has a facility dedicated to conducting experiments on baby monkeys that are placed in sterile cages all alone. They spend their miserable years plucking their hair and pacing up and down the cramped cages.

In 2019, the University of Washington received over $ 13 million in funding from NIH for the center’s core operations. WaNPRC is wasting taxpayer money and violation of federal animal welfare laws.

4. PETA had to sue Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) to get video of a taxpayer funded experiment it was as cruel as it was ridiculous. After fertilization of Japanese macaques, their young were torn from them and placed alone in a small unfamiliar cage. The experimenter deliberately teased young macaques with threatening gestures to determine if they could be intimidated.

Federal inspection reports obtained by PETA show that the list of atrocities inflicted on monkeys is long and disturbing. IN one incident, the monkey died after the workers did not notice that it was trapped behind the cage. In another case, workers did not give a monkey pain reliever after it was used in an experimental operation.

ONPRC jails over 6,400 monkeys and receives tens of millions of dollars a year in taxpayer funding – help us shut it down today.

5.In Johns Hopkins University, experimenter Shrish Mysore uses more than 50 owls in mindless experiments in which he exposes their brains, inserts electrodes into them, holds them for 12 hours at a time, and hits them with light and sounds.

It is funded by taxpayers – more than $ 1.5 million in taxpayer dollars – by a federal institution affiliated with the NIH.

How to file taxes without fear

Whether you get your tax return or owe Uncle Sam this year, your money owes never go to cages, dissection and killing animals in useless experiments.

PETA members protested Shresh Mysore’s experiments on barn owls, which he admitted were useless and involved holding the birds for hours and inserting electrodes into their brains. Take Action to Stop This Deadly Torture: PETA.org/Owls.

Help end this atrocity by persuading its members of Congress to demand the NIH to stop throwing taxpayer money on cruel, useless animal experiments, and instead fund advanced non-animal research methods.
