He drove his pregnant spouse away simply because she was anticipating a lady. But he spent a fortune to maintain his mistress in a non-public clinic to ship what he believed could be his “treasured son.” However on the day the kid was born, destiny delivered him the cruelest lesson of his life…
The morning rose tender and golden over the outskirts of Guadalajara.
Lucía walked slowly across the small house, her stomach spherical and heavy, each step labored. Even so, she gently held her abdomen and whispered:
—“Just a bit longer, my baby… we’ll be collectively quickly.”
However her husband Héctor didn’t even look her approach.
From the second she received pregnant, the person who as soon as adored her had was a stranger. Every thing bothered him: the best way the home smelled, her morning illness, her exhaustion. He acted like she was a burden, like her being pregnant had someway erased her.
That evening, as Lucía lovingly folded tiny child garments, he spoke phrases that shattered her coronary heart.
—“Subsequent month, you’re going to remain at your mom’s ranch to offer beginning. Issues listed below are too costly. On the market it’ll price just a few pesos. I’m not losing ten thousand for this.”
Lucía stared at him, tears trembling.
—“Héctor… I’m 9 months alongside. The journey is lengthy. I may go into labor on the street…”
He gave a chilly shrug, virtually amused.
—“Not my downside. They’ve midwives there. And I don’t need you right here whining all day.”
That was when Lucía realized: the person she liked not existed.

Two days later, carrying one worn suitcase and a coronary heart stuffed with ache, she boarded a bus to San Cristóbal de la Sierra.
Her mom, Doña Rosario, met her on the station. When she noticed her daughter—skinny, pale, exhausted—she wrapped her arms round her and cried.
—“My baby… don’t fear anymore. You’re house. I’ll take care of you.”
In the meantime, the second Lucía left, Héctor wasted no time returning to Camila Ortega, his younger secretary—who was additionally pregnant. And she or he promised him the one factor he desperately wished: a boy.
He felt triumphant.
—“Lastly, my inheritor,” he bragged to everybody.
He paid for a luxurious suite at Hospital San Rafael, spending almost 100,000 pesos to make sure the “good beginning.”
When the day arrived, Héctor rushed in with flowers, swelling with delight.
“My son is right here! He’s my mirror!” he boasted, sending pictures to all his buddies.
However his happiness was destined to crumble rapidly.
That afternoon, a nurse requested him to signal paperwork, so he headed to the neonatal unit.
When the door opened, he froze.
Standing there was Doña Rosario, trying immediately at him—agency, unshaken.
—“M-Mom-in-law?… Why are you right here?” he stuttered.
She positioned a carton of powdered milk on the desk and spoke calmly:
—“I got here to see the nice father of the nice son he brags about.”
Héctor tried to clarify.
—“This girl is only a good friend I helped—”
However she lifted her hand, silencing him.
From her purse, she took out an envelope.
—“That is the infant’s DNA check. I requested it proper after the beginning. And guess what… the kid isn’t yours.”
The colour drained from Héctor’s face.
—“No… Camila instructed me—”
Doña Rosario launched a harsh, bitter snicker.
—“You pushed my daughter out as a result of she carried a lady. You left her alone to save cash. But you threw 100 thousand pesos at this girl. And for what? To lift one other man’s baby. You see, Héctor? Life all the time comes again round. God sees all.”
She walked towards the door, however turned as soon as extra.
—“Lucía had a fantastic child woman. Wholesome, treasured, with the sweetest eyes. And she or he may have a father—simply not you. From at this time on, neither my daughter nor my granddaughter wants a coward.”

The door closed with a heavy echo.
Héctor collapsed right into a chair. The new child’s cry echoed within the hallway—what had gave the impression of pleasure that morning now gave the impression of judgment.
Weeks later, the clinic known as: he owed greater than 120,000 pesos.
Camila had vanished.
The house he purchased for her? Frozen.
His accounts? Empty.
His delight? Destroyed.
In the meantime, again on the ranch, Lucía slowly regained her power.
The fields glowed within the late afternoon solar.
Doña Rosario watched as Lucía rocked her child woman.
—“You see, my daughter? Life all the time places everybody the place they belong. You will have love. He solely has remorse.”
Lucía kissed her daughter gently and smiled by way of her tears.
For the primary time in a very long time… she may breathe once more.
